Located in the heart of downtown Rochester, The Joseph A. Floreano Convention Center is a 100,000 sq. ft. event venue that hosts some of the area’s largest conferences, weddings, and trade shows.
The Customer Request
After being chosen as one of thirteen development projects for the ROC the Riverway initiative, the Center began facility updates that included replacing the building’s ten original escalators. To assist with renovations, Boulter was brought on by the escalator manufacturer to remove all ten units and install six of the larger units into place.
The Boulter Solution
To minimize disruption to operations, the escalator project was completed over several months. For the largest units, chain hoists were secured to the building’s structural beams to lift and lower the top half of the units while a forklift guided the bottom sections into place.
